Visiting Burj el-Shemali
2012
I travelled to Lebanon in October 2011 as a guest for human rights organisation Beit Atfal Assomoud. I lived 10 days in Burj el – Shemali – A Palestinian refugee camp situated in southern Lebanon. During my stay I taught photography to the youth of the camp and learned about life at the refugee camp. Burj el -Shemali was founded in 1948. The camp holds about 20 000 people deprived of their citizen rights. This includes a ban over 70 occupations as well as the right to own land or property. Visiting Burj el Shemali – exhibition was first opened in Nunes Gallery in Helsinki in 2012.
